The Best Canmore Wedding Venues

As a Canmore local wedding photographer and videographer, I can say with certainty that there are some pretty special locations to say your “I Do’s” here in the heart of the Canadian Rockies! Whether you’re looking for just a ceremony location, a reception venue, or an all-inclusive wedding day package, Canmore is guaranteed to have a great venue for you, no matter your budget, wedding party size, or style of wedding. Here are of some of my absolute favourite wedding venues to work at in Canmore - both for the Rocky Mountain views and the overall guest experience, along with some tidbits on what makes those venues so special in the first place!

  1. Cornerstone Theatre

Cornerstone Theatre in Canmore may just be the most sought-after wedding venue in town, and for good reason. The venue is located right in the heart of the short term accommodations neighbourhood, and the wooden aesthetic in their truly stunning ballroom fits the Canmore mountain vibe perfectly. There’s more to the venue’s charm than that though - service is always offered with a smile, and the venue’s delicious dinner buffets continue to impress me each and every time I’m there. If this is a venue that made it onto your short-list, there are a few other important things to consider.

The Cornerstone Theatre has venue partnerships with a few other locations in town to provide stunning mountain-view ceremony and reception space in Canmore. Cornerstone Theatre offers the Canmore Ranch for wedding receptions, and so far my experience there has been nothing short of exceptional. Cornerstone also offers the Canmore Nordic Centre for both ceremonies and receptions, which is a venue I can’t wait to work at in the future (if you’re interested in booking that venue, let me know… I’d love to give you a deal!)

2. Silvertip Resort

Looking to begin your happily-ever-after at one of Canmore’s most beautiful outdoor ceremony spaces, offering unparalleled views of the Rocky Mountains and the iconic Three Sisters Mountainscape? Then you may not need to look any further than the Silvertip Resort. Perched above the town of Canmore, this stunning venue has a gorgeous view of some of Kananaskis Country’s most photographed mountains, and of the golf course as well. The Silvertip Resort is a picturesque backdrop for your nuptials and wedding photos.

One of the best features this venue has to offer is a beautiful indoor wedding space that can accommodate a wide variety of wedding party sizes. The resort offers full catering from their in-house chef, with delicious food options to keep your guests fed and happy. Whether you’re choosing a small intimate wedding, or a grand black-tie formal, Silvertip Resort should definitely be on your short list of Canmore venues.

3. Stewart Creek Golf Course

Stewart Creek Golf Course makes planning your wedding day a breeze, offering elegant facilities, a tented wedding location for ceremonies overlooking Pigeon Mountain and a beautiful valley, as well as professional catering and a stunning Rocky Mountain backdrop. This venue can accommodate up to 80 of your closest family and friends to help you celebrate your marriage.

The main dining room (pictured above) offers lots of natural lighting, a wood-burning fireplace, and a large patio for you and your guests to enjoy beautiful summer evenings in Canmore. A major benefit of planning your wedding day here is that the tented outdoor ceremony space means that rain or shine, the festivities can go on!

4. The Malcolm Hotel

The Malcolm Hotel is one of the most well known hotels in Canmore. It also has a variety of different wedding and elopement options for all budgets and wedding party sizes as well. Located in Spring Creek, the hotel is accessible from the highway and downtown Canmore, and has an exceptional view of the surrounding mountains. Whether you’re planning on hosting up to 260 guests in their Edinburgh Ballroom, or elope with 20 or less guests on their Rooftop Stage, this venue has something to offer everyone.

The Malcolm Hotel has a full host of catering options as well, with delicious food options prepared all in house. If you’re looking for an all-inclusive package (from accommodations to ceremony and reception venue), this great spot could very well be your top choice.

5. A Great Canmore Elopement Option: Quarry Lake

If you’re looking for a budget option or elopement location that doesn’t trade top notch mountain views for affordability, then Quarry Lake could very well be for you. Booked through the Town of Canmore, Quarry Lake has an unbeatable view of the Three Sisters, Mount Lawrence Grassi, and Mount Rundle. This venue can accommodate wedding ceremonies big and small, although it is a leave no trace location - so plan accordingly!

If you’re planning a wedding or elopement here, then you should consider booking one of Canmore or Banff’s many exceptional restaurants for dinner. A couple of common options for higher-end restaurants in Canmore (that I can personally vouch for) are Sauvage, Brigitte Bar, 4296 (also known as fourtwoninesix), and Crazy Weed (it’s a restaurant, I promise)!
